Last week China launched back to back two satellites in order to test their latest Internet of Things (IoT) applications. According to the China News Agency: the incident took place from the Jiuquan base of Northwest China, it is also the start of the “Xingyun Project”.
The two satellites are named as “Xingyun- 2.01” and “Xingyun- 2.02”. This launch will be a part of a group that has 80 other low orbits (less than 2000 km above the Sea level)communication satellites. The news agency also informed this is the first space-based project devoted to the Internet of Things (IoT) designed and developed independently by China.
As mentioned in multiple Internet of Things (IoT) reports, the definition of IoT has taken another level along with the onset of new-age technology converge, which relates to an inter-related computing system that able to communicate with each other via data exchange without any human intervention.
These IoT sensor devices can be integrated with everyday appliances to make them smart. The IoT approach has enormous application potential in private as well as the public sector, which makes it so dynamic. Nowadays the concept of the smart city raised from this approach only, better traffic control, smart cab booking and tracking, efficient administrators, smart bands that detect calorie intake, body heat, water consumption level and others, automatic air condition system that suggest the ideal temperature evaluating the immediate environment, etc. the list will go on.
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a booming field, especially with the 5G implementation. The fifth-generation internet network can communicate with devices 100 times faster compared to the existing 4G technology.
The agency further added, European satellite operator Eutelsat, is about to launch a set of 25 nano-satellites by the end of 2022 to strengthen their Internet of Things applications.
