The commercial audience or the consumers are the ones to have limited access to the full potential of the Internet of Things such as wearables, smart home connected devices. The Internet of Things has brought forward the idea of some simple electronic devices which are connected to the network. They communicate with the users due to their fundamental principle and eventually, this makes the lives of the users better. The IoT showed that technology can be cheap yet powerful enough to play the song without having to shuffle the playlist.
But honestly, the Internet of Things is much of a more extensive subject. The IoT devices are the perfect example of the devices which communicates with the internal environment and the external environment. And due to the broad array of features, the number of these devices are likely to grow to more than 20 billion by the end of 2020.
Like every yin has a yang, there is the positive side of the Internet of Things, and at the same time, there is also the dark side. There is a single weak spot in the IoT, and that is in its security. The devices curated on the underlying principle of "connected things" have a small setback, and the reason why security proves to be the dark side of the technology is that the manufacturers provide with a weak pre-set credentials.
On the other hand, the cybercriminals are always on a lookout to gain unauthorized access to a network, device or cloud. And most of the time, the IoT devices are curated without taking stalk of the serious potential danger that comes from these devices.
There is a dire need to make sure that the IoT devices have strong security protocols and also that they are resistant to tampering. Cutting edge security solutions will give an edge to the IoT devices and then the cybercriminals won't be able to breach the devices or the networks that these devices are connected with.
