ON Semiconductor, has been piloting the energy efficient breakthroughs in the Internet of Things. And the company is continuously making efforts for enabling the IoT which doesn't require much maintenance and which are battery-less. There is a highly likely change that hearing about a battery-less IoT innovation is far from being possible but ON Semiconductor has introduced a Multi-Sensor Platform which is entirely powered by solar cell.
The solar cell powers the battery-less Internet of Things sensors which can harvest solar energy in an uninterrupted manner. On the other hand, It can also communicate and gather the data via Bluetooth Low Energy. The combination of these elements throws the batteries out of the equation as well as other segments of non-renewable energy.
The breakthrough also provides an omega-level unification of the extremely low powered wireless communications, miniature level of solar cells and a low-end duty cycle to sense the applications for developing and deploying complete maintenance-free sensor nodes embedded in the Internet of Things.
The RSL10 SP powers the RSL10 Solar Cell Multi-Sensor Platform of ON Semiconductors. By the looks of it, RSL10 SIP is an absolute solution based on System-in-Package that features the radio called RSL10 Development Kit along with passive modules. It also has an integrated antenna along with some of the significant passive components.
The Internet of Things platform combines RSL10 SIP and a solar cell alongside a bunch of low-powered sensors. Bosch Sensortec curated the BMA400 which is a true ultra-low powered accelerometer that does not compromise when it comes to delivering robust performance. On the other hand, the BMA400 which comes with 3-way axis accelerometer.
And together, these sensors allow both the manufacturers as well as the developers for creating a whole of nodes that an Internet of Things solution needs. The nodes also play an integral part in the IoT solution as they are the ones powered via renewable energy. According to the company, the nodes can also harvest from the surroundings of the sensors.
