Microsoft has stunned the world by bringing forward the acclaimed HoloLens 2. The American tech giant has revealed that anticipated HoloLens 2 at the Mobile World Congress 2019. The Mobile World Congress is venued in Barcelona. But HoloLens 2 isn't the only product that stole the show at the Mobile World Congress, another product from Microsoft managed to pique the interest of the people. The product isn’t a headset; instead, it is the rebirth of Kinect.
The Xbox Kinect is nothing but an experimental camera which worked on the fundamental principles of motion control. The Xbox Kinect also serves as a microphone for a different array of games. Nevertheless, in the year 2017, Kinect was dead in the water. The Kinect acted as a forerunner to the headset of HoloLens.
By the looks of it, the Azure Kinect Developer Kit is back from the dead, and it came alongside HoloLens 2 in the form of a PC developer kit and peripheral which is designed to connect to the cloud. It can also be utilized to perform the visual-related tasks of a computer given that the person is not using a computer. The best news is that the developer kit can now be preordered for $399 which is around £300. The Kinect Developer Kit comes at the tenth of total prize of the HoloLens 2 which is available at $3,500; nevertheless, for the manufacturer and the developer, it is two parts of the same story.
Microsoft announced the IoT based Azure Kinect in the previous year. Apparently, the Azure Kinect has the same depth sensor which is placed on HoloLens 2. Ocuvera, a healthcare company is using Microsoft’s Azure Kinect for sensing the falling of the patients in the hospitals. There is also a highly likely possibility that the kit can also be used for the needs of spatial-mapping and at the same time it can also be added to the workspaces of the computer.
