IoT is the technology that made human beings more efficient in terms of managing the existing technologies, faster and better, in terms of connecting with the organization. Logistics is one of the most important fields, worthy enough to get the attention of IoT. There were several reported issues within the logistics world, such as cargo theft, on-road accidents, document loss, health adversities, and others. These are a few of the common damages that are caused to the property as well as the country’s economy when the logistics sector is concerned. In fact, FleetX, a company founded in 2017, is a logistics automation firm that uses IoT.
The technology doesn’t intend to eradicate manpower, but it did help the people become more efficient and connected to the organizational operations. Vineet Sharma, the CEO, and Co-founder of FleetX explains how IoT is being leveraged in the logistics department.
He said that IoT is the backbone of logistics automation. If they need to automate various operations or processes within the area of logistics, then there is a need for a humongous amount of data to allow the technology to make smarter decisions. Therefore, IoT is the technology that plays a major role in acquiring data from different sources within the logistics sector. Not just that, but IoT helps in the collection of data remotely without the necessity of any manual input.
He said that, in the year 2017, when he and his partner were looking into the transportation and logistics industry, they found out penetration of low technology in it. And after they talked to various stakeholders, they made a decision to build a platform that will be driven by AI, with the use of an IoT layer. This platform is intended to offer real-time insights to all of the stakeholders.
The use of the right technology and people resulted in the completion of this software in just 3 months, he said. After the first version was launched, Vineet said that they continued to put up enhancement approaches to improve the platform over time. Vineet also said that they took feedback from customers and identified all of the loopholes and challenges within the platform. And based on them, all of the problems were solved with the use of analytics and IoT layer.
As per Vineet, the future of Logistics Company might be with driverless vehicles within the commercial spaces. The countries like the US & Europe are under trial to put up driverless vehicles to reduce the concerns of death and vehicle crashes. But, as of India, there is still time for driverless vehicles to be introduced within the logistics sector of this country. The data with FleetX on Indian roads will help in training the driverless vehicles by OEMs when they reach India.
Vineet says that FleetX intends to continue with its solution-driven approaches with the integration of innovative measures for simplifying fleet management with the use of IoT.
