Tata Communication is experiencing an increasing demand for IoT connected workplace solutions, as more companies are gradually resuming their operations. According to Mr. AlokBardiya the head of the Internet of Things (business unit), Tata Communications, at the initial stage, the IoT workplace demand was confined to the manufacturing sector since work from home is not an option anymore. Still, companies who are also planning to resume their operation require a better setup.
He further added, Over the last two months, there has been an increased interest in our connected worker solutions. There was a fair amount of understanding on connected worker solutions earlier as well, but the crisis has definitely accentuated the awareness of the solution and needs for worker safety,”
Bardiya also mentioned the demand for IoT business is not new, it existed even before COVID- 19 situation, but the work from home has egged the situation more towards implementation and deployment. He said: “In the past year, we laid the groundwork and have the capabilities to cater to enterprises that were previously looking for 100 to 200 devices, but currently looking beyond thousands of devices to transform their business”. He also added the increasing demand in various industries helps them understand the impact of IoT in the entire supply chain.
Bardiya also mentioned they expect the demand for IoT solutions to grow gradually and exponentially as more than 10-15 million people in various sized companies will be beneficial from the setup. They also experience the demand for IoT facility in the vehicle tracking in order to facilitate remote monitoring of the entire system.
For any new-age companies, IoT solution is a must for seamless operation as it offers dynamic solutions from network, sensor, cloud, etc. but the prime offering is connected worker solution where all the team members can communicate with each other from a remote location. The current solution offers a safety watch and a safety passcard that alerts the employees and supervisors upon requirements. The solution triggers an alert when the number of employees in particular areas exceeds the prescribed limit in this Covid-19 situation.
Companies dealing with a soft-sector solution such as designing, content developing, social media marketing require IoT setup, even more, not only to communicate with the teammates but also to discuss the upcoming work plan through zoom call or other forms of video conferencing.
