The restrictions that were necessarily imposed upon the globe during this pandemic, was a driving factor for the IoT world. Social distancing and lockdown are just the two most heard-about measures taken by governments across the globe. But, 2021 was somehow better for most of the countries across the globe, as they are getting back to normal life.
People are heading to offices, and are hanging out in restaurants, but with some strict rules to avoid an outbreak of this virus. But, managing and following all these rules in crowded places is quite difficult. And, therefore IoT was put up as a significant solution to help the world fight this pandemic.
The use of IoT is not implemented today but has started to help businesses and individuals prepare for the new normal. IoT brought up sensors that read motion & light, analyses wear & tear of critical equipment, recording footfall at stores and others. These IoT sensor embedded measures will help businesses gain a good level of knowledge.
The business and building owners have benefitted the most out of IoT technology and analytics for controlling the flow of people within a building or office premises. IoT technology helped people look out for minimizing the infection by targeting the most ignored areas of a building, such as lifts.
These technologies intended to make the places secure for people to get back to normal life safely without aggregating this virus. And, therefore since 2020, IoT is popularly being implemented to ensure that the workspaces are safe with strict implementation of the COVID prevention guidelines.
The IoT technology has sensors that help owners track the use of meeting rooms, desks, and count of people within the premises to ensure that the guidelines are being followed or not. IoT is, therefore, a crucial part of predictive maintenance to implement a frictionless experience and work execution within the buildings.
The companies and building owners were preparing for the after-pandemic life in the beginning months of 2020. And, in this pursuit, securing the areas where the chances of infection are high, was/is quite essential. For instance, some of the critical equipment within malls, offices, and big buildings are escalators and elevators, which are also high infection risk areas. IoT can help raise the sensor alert for timely cleanliness of those spaces, to keep it hygienic.
With IoT technology, the owners will be able to assign rightful cleaners or maintenance officers to look at the COVID appropriate measures being followed. Not just that, but this technology was also helpful in raising alerts for wear & tear of select machinery. In that case, the owners dispatch the engineering team to look after the causes and eradicate them.
In this way, IoT was quite helpful in allowing the businesses to prepare for after-pandemic operations within their respective premises in the year 2020. As of now, the technology within such premises is highly preferable, and this demand-hike will continue for a long span of time.
