As the Andhra Pradesh State Energy Conservation Mission has promoted the Internet Of Things (IoT)-enabled power control devices to harness the energy consumption in various sectors including large, micro, and small businesses on a pilot basis. The entire approach will yield a positive result. The Energy Department is reviewing the introduction of the devices in all MSMEs as it would save more than 1100 units per cluster every year.
Driven by the success of the pilot project an MSME cluster in the East Godavari District, Srikant Nagulapalli the Energy Secretary suggested the developers of the IoT devices suggest a solution that can replace the existing 1.5 crore IRDA setup with smart meters that can reduce the entire cost. The smart meter also suitable for the residential sector.
APSECM has recently provided a statement where it has mentioned a webinar has designed to discuss various prospects and initiatives of the system. Moreover, energy consumption reduction, IoT sensored power control system also researched for reducing the overall consumption of energy.
This new device was the result of the combination of efforts by The Union Ministry of Commerce, Industry-led National Productivity Council (NPC) together with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Hyderabad in support of real-time monitoring of multiple electrical parameters.
The Pilot Project has implemented in a few clusters in East and West Godavari districts displayed their devices that cost around INR 10,000 for 11,000 units in the cluster. The entire approach can save INR 80,000, as explained by the officials.
According to the vice-chairman of APSECM, the innovation is open-source software for smart meters that involve a lower cost, with proper help from NPC and IIT – Hyderabad they can easily be implemented in the residential sector.
