Amazon Web Services are partnering with multiple low-power wide-area networks to provide better Internet of things (IoT) functionalities for consumers and enterprises. The main objective of the system is to provide top-notch solutions for smart cities from a sustainable lifestyle. The same goes for agriculture and smart buildings as well.
The LoRaWAN standard deliveries are going to deliver small amounts of data (bytes) over long distances utilising a very small amount of power (mV). The company has offered hundreds of ready-made devices for the convenience of users.
In this article, we highlighted some of the ways to manage your LoRaWAN IoT devices together with AWS.
LoRa Alliance which is an open industry organisation manages all the specifications of LoRaWAN. It is also responsible for the certification and standardisation of LoRaWAN. Today there are more than 270 LoRaWAN certification devices available in the alliance database and the number is rapidly increasing every day to keep pace with the changing technology.
Today there are more than 137 operators of LoRaWAN who offer public networks. Amazon works with AWS partners to ease up things for customers so that applications can be easily built upon AWS IoT. There are AWS CloudFormation templates that digest data more easily from public operator networks back to the AWS IoT Core.
There are two types of private networks: LNS in the Cloud and LNS on the Gateway
AWS IoT Core for LoRaWAN is offered by AWS as a local AWS LNS license. AWS worked for hand-in and a lot of gateway manufacturers like Browan, Laird, Multitech, Kerlink, etc. to prepare their gateways together with AWS Core for LoRaWAN. They provide a modern solution for indoor and outdoor applications like smart homes and building security etc.
