The most vulnerable Internet of Things devices around the world is becoming a significant problem for companies around the world. The new report came all the way from Ponemon Institute as well as Santa Fe Group.
The security breaches taking place in the IoT devices has increased from 15% in the year 2017 to 26% back in 2018, according to the report. And the reason as to why the Internet of Things devices are vulnerable is that the organization have zero knowledge of the insecurity of IoT devices.
By the looks of it, most of the organizations do not even know if the application of the devices connected to a single network is insecure. On the other hand, the vendors are also unaware if the third-party vendor introduces the IoT devices.
Irrespective of the risks, around 9% of the companies have revealed that they inform, educate third-parties and employees regarding the vulnerability that IoT holds. Mostly, a significant number of organizations around the world are not accountable for addressing and managing the risks involved in the Internet of Things.
On the other hand, 21% of the board members reported they divulge themselves in understanding third-party, security practices along with cybersecurity. On the other hand, 32% of the organization said that no individual or department is responsible for managing and implementing the corrective actions for managing the Internet of Things, according to the report.
There are over 80% of the organizations who strongly believe in the fact that significant IoT data is going to be breached in the next couple of years. And this is the appropriate time for the board of directors to take immediate steps for issuing the risks for securing IoT devices. Securing the next-generation of Internet of Things devices is very much crucial for organizations around the world.
