Recent research on IoT security shows that almost seven in ten organizations have reported hacking of their systems via the Internet of Things (IoT). Most of them were using IoT embedded sensors which were communicating via internet connections.
Based on these complains, Extreme Network conducted a survey which shows IoT is moving towards the organizations, but they are extremely vulnerable to the attacks based on IoT. The team have interviewed around 530 IT professionals and awestruck by the result.
The research also reveals, around 84% of industries in Europe, North America and the Asia Pacific rely on IoT devices to perform their daily jobs in the corporate network. The survey also discovers various other related data. Various organization are not at all clear about the threat, most of them (55%) believe links with outsider networks is responsible for their security threat while around 70% of them believe they have entire control over the network.
Verizon’s 2019 Data Investigations Report shows misuse and threats of security incident pattern of the year. Most of these organizations keep their credentials either in the cloud or in external devices, whenever connected to the central control system, there is always a threat to data loss. Upon reporting the prime service provider, there is not much to do especially in the field of recovery.
The research also discovers the operating team of the R & D department is continuously working on strengthening the entire communication system. They are focusing on reducing human interfere within the entire system. Fully automated systems are less vulnerable to security threat than one that requires human interference.
The research report is essential for various IoT departments to come up with a new system with zero to no security threat so that professionals and regular users can use the system without any major problem.
